Country Ways Oak Furniture Makers is a family-owned bespoke furniture maker and retailer situated in the tranquil Sussex countryside in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. For nearly 40 years, we have specialized in traditionally handmade solid oak furniture, crafting exceptional pieces for discerning clients across the UK and beyond.

Our workshop and showroom are based at Little Swailes Green Farm, a medieval farmstead dating back to the 16th century, in the heart of 1066 country near the historic town of Battle in East Sussex. This beautiful historic setting provides the perfect environment for creating timeless handcrafted furniture using traditional British woodworking techniques.

Using traditional tools such as tenon saws, mallets and chisels, each piece of furniture handmade by Country Ways Oak is crafted with care and precision. Where appropriate to the design, we use sturdy pegged mortise and tenon joints to deliver exceptional strength and durability that will last for generations.

We source our oak timber from local British and European suppliers, cut and prepare each piece in our workshop, and craft every component by hand using traditional woodworking techniques. As recognized oak table specialists, we have been commissioned to create exceptional pieces for prestigious clients including the Middle Temple in London (20ft extending oak refectory dining table), St Bartholomew's Medical School Library (20 bespoke library tables), and the Kensington Hotel in London.
